April 2026 Chattable Relaunch
After months of planning, and about a week or two of rewriting code, Chattable has officially removed its dependency on Firebase Realtime Database. This was the single largest contributor to our rising maintenance costs. With this major dependency now eliminated, I’m excited to announce that Chattable is once again open to new users and new chats, with stable and reliable service.
During the migration, a significant portion of the backend code was rewritten. This overhaul removed previous limitations and enabled several improvements, including no more read limits, allowing you to render entire chats at once for a much smoother experience.
As part of this upgrade, all messages sent through Chattable Beta (beta.iframe.chat links) since April 1st were unfortunately lost. If your chat history is missing and you’d like it recovered, please email me with your room ID. I’ll do my best to restore it.
You may also notice longer load times and occasional delays in sending message or updating settings. However, the load time difference/delays are minimal on most chats.
If you encounter any bugs or unexpected issues with Chattable, please report them via email. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and helps me improve the service faster.
And a huge thank you to each of you, for your patience and support during this transition. Chattable is now in a much stronger and more sustainable position moving forward.
Thanks again,
Andrew
